The Adventures of Mo
Welcome! You’ve found the place on our website where all the fun begins.
As a free online children’s book about geography and history, The Adventures of Mo (Mo) entertains early readers as they learn about US geography and history while promoting literacy.
You can also download our complete free children’s book online on Amazon (this version also includes a behind-the-scenes chapter about the real Mo) or read each chapter individually either directly on the website or as a downloadable file.

Read each chapter, then, based on clues in each chapter, guess what state Mo and Finchy are visiting. For example:
● In chapter 3 of our children’s book, Mo and Finchy learn about the Anasazi Indians who lived in this state for hundreds of years as far back as 1,000 years ago. Where are they?
● In chapter 17, Mo and Finchy visit these islands, the site of many shipwrecks in the 1800s. Any idea what state they’re visiting?
● In chapter 44, Mo and Finchy visit a place known as the “volunteer state” and help build a house for senior dogs. Where could they be?

Children’s Book Chapters and Drawings
Every chapter portrays an adventure in a different state. Mo and Finchy, the main characters, meet unique and lovable creatures along the way like Annie, the armadillo from Amarillo, and Diana, the butterfly actor. No two adventures or characters are alike!
Read the chapters in order so you can track their journey across the country. But if you don’t want to track,
feel free to skip around to different states.
Every chapter in our free children’s book online about geography and history includes two drawings that complement the adventure in that chapter. (Many of these drawings were created by a high school student!) Children can color the drawings or add their own special touches that make each adventure more real or memorable. You can also download just the drawings in each chapter. Here’s a little secret that not many people know. Most of the chapter drawings were created by a talented high school senior who continued drawing through his freshman year of college.
